Sublevel Zero Prototype Demo
A roguelike with a sci-fi setting in which you will be exploring a procedurally generated facility with loads of enemies to get in your way. #FPS roguelike #First person shooter #Rogluelike shooter #FPS #Roguelike #Shooter
A first-person sci-fi roguelike with low poly graphics, an 8-bit soundtrack, permadeath, plenty of weapons, loads of enemies and a procedurally generated space station in which you have to survive and complete your missions, that’s Sublevel Zero for you. A game that fuses a lot of good stuff to form an excellent experience, a quite rare one actually.
Roguelike games are valued for their replayability and the fact that you’re always keeping your senses sharp, perfectly in-tuned with the gameplay. Sublevel Zero takes that up a notch, or two.
First off, it’s a 6DoF which means you have a great deal of mobility to use in your favor, or to confuse the heck out of you. Either way, it’s swell to have. Secondly, you get to do all your shooting in a procedurally generated space station that is filled with several kinds of enemy ships that are a lot more aggressive than you would expect.
There are multiple types of weapons to discover, limited ammo for each one and a very fragile ship, all the more reasons to get your attention. Sublevel Zero really feels like that game with an optimal selection ideas and well implemented features that balance difficulty and enjoyment almost to perfection.
Sublevel Zero features low poly graphics that look really nice in this prototype demo (Ludum Dare 29 build) but they don’t reflect much of the final product’s quality. There’s a lot more enstored for Sublevel Zero on a visual level and it’s all great.
The game is also built to be VR-Enabled which will allow you to fully enjoy the freedom of movement and fighting which Sublevel Zero has to offer. It’s going to be an absolute pleasure to smoothly glide through the space station, firing rockets, lasers, railguns at the enemy.
On a closing note, Sublevel Zero is a game you need to experience before you can really appreciate it. It’s easy to play but tough to master and it really feels like one of the best roguelikes we’ve seen in a while.
