Strategic Command 2: Patton Drives East Demo

Although a lot of people had to die along the way, World War II finished with the good guys being victorious and the Nazis defeated. However, things could have went the other way a few times as well, given the fact that Germany was pretty close to obtaining some major victories throughout the war, some of which might have changed the course of the entire conflict.

Strategic Command 2: Patton Drives East presents you with a collection of imaginary campaigns that could have just as easily taken place before or after the second World War. In essence, most of the details regarding the war as a whole are kept unaltered, but key events have been altered in order to guess how the situation would have looked if things didn’t go as planned.

One of the largest campaigns involves general Patton himself, who is sent to attack the USSR after Germany surrenders in 1945. Alternatively, it is also possible to play with the Russians as they try to take over Europe shortly after WWII is over, by attacking France and the surrounding countries. Although they might not be historically accurate, the conditions are pretty plausible and the scenarios hold quite the challenge.

Because Patton Drives East is actually an expansion pack for the original game, not a lot changed when it comes to gameplay or graphics. Hence, if you are familiar with the vanilla release, then this add-on should only serve as a way to lengthen your experience, although there are some bug fixes and a variety of small improvements that make everything run a tad smoother.

The map is also a bit bigger and it includes a few additional territories, none of which are of too much use in the campaign, on the other hand. The action still takes place in turns, which means that you can only move every unit once per turn and perform some additional diplomatic actions, or begin researching new technology to take the upper hand on the battlefield.

All things considered, Strategic Command 2: Patton Drives East is a hefty expansion pack and it should provide you with enough additional content to keep you satisfied for a while. The ‘what if’ scenarios are certainly entertaining, not to mention challenging and intriguing.
