Strafe Speed Zone
A pixel art first person shooter that takes you on a stroll down memory lane to blast some monsters and robots. #First person shooter #Procedural FPS #Pixel art shooter #FPS #Shooter #Procedural
Strafe is aimed to be the embodiment of three inspiring games that have shaped the 90s. It’s a pixelart first-person shooter that is said to offer hours upon hours of monster and robot shooting within a randomly created environment.
The Pre-Alpha demo that is delivered before you is here to mostly introduce you to the graphics, animations, shooting, some enemies and most importantly, the atmosphere of it all.
Right off the bat, if you’re a fan of the previously mentioned historical games, Strafe will be more than appealing. It simply looks great and you can’t deny it. The environment and volunteer targets, the guns and the blood gushes are spot on and they do manage to successfully merge the atmosphere of the three games into one.
Strafe is thought out to dazzle you with chaotic combat but that might not really be the case, or so the demo leads to believe. Sure, there are plenty of moments and a few seconds of bad aiming mean you’re dead but the chaos factor isn’t all that great. And there’s less of a chance you’ll feel the burn if you’re an experienced FPS player but then again, this piece of the game is meant to be an introduction to the idea that is Strafe.
Setting aside that your arms and eye won’t melt while playing, Strafe is definitely fun and engaging. The three weapons you get to use have their distinct flavor and allow both forward thinking-calculated players and bloodthirsty-gunz-a-blazin’ gamers to fully be in their comfort zone while still being challenged.
To wrap it up, Strafe might be that kind of game that treats you to a nice casual evening of shooting and then you wake up three months later with the need for prescription glasses and a twitchy trigger finger because you just can’t get enough.
