Star Trek: Elite Force 2 - Demo

Star Trek: Elite Force 2 is a first-person shooter that fuses together some of the Star Trek storylines into one well-written game. The action in the demo is spot on, and as a head’s up, you should mind your ammo.

There is a bit of sarcasm in that subtitle because few really enjoy the linear gameplay; except for the cases where it’s really good, and the action is intense. Star Trek: Elite Force 2 manages to pull the latter off, more or less, as you’ll be constantly shooting at the exomorphs.

In this title you also get to solve a few puzzles which, depending on your appreciation for them, they’ll either add to the challenge of the game or will feel totally useless. However, they’re there, and there’s nothing you can do about it, except hope that while solving one, an alien doesn’t appear to shred you to pieces.

Star Trek: Elite Force 2 is a nicely paced FPS. There are very few dull moments and even for a game that was released in 2003, it looks decent. Probably the best feature that remains is the voice acting, which is a delight to hear.

The story is delivered in the traditional way for shooters that have emerged in that period, at a moderate rhythm and with enough enjoyable twists and details to the story.

In terms of how you feel while playing it, well, obviously opinions will vary. Generally speaking, it has a nice atmosphere, and the audio is well-crafted. If you’re a trekkie or a sci-fi fan, in general, there’s a very slim chance of finding the game enjoyable.

In gaming years, Star Trek: Elite Force 2 is almost ancient but it’s still a good game. It was one of those titles that focused on everything as much as it could. It’s worth a play.
