Sonic Time Twisted Demo

Sonic is a franchise that won’t go away for a very long time, even if it already has a few decades since it was first released. Even if Sega doesn’t really provide the community with that many titles, the fans are taking care of the issue and they are constantly devising new adventures for the blue Hedgehog, although not all of them are worth playing through.

Sonic Time Twisted looks and feels a bit more professional than your usual fan remake, which means that you can enjoy it more and not have to worry about gruesome bugs putting an end to your fun. The game mixes some curious elements into the gameplay as well, including some that are taken directly from popular pinball games.

To begin with, you get to choose between three characters to play as, which includes Sonic and two of his friends. Naturally, they all come with different abilities and approaches when it comes to overcoming the obstacles, but you should be able to use any of them to pass the levels. From time to time, a particular character may have an easier time get past a certain obstacle, but it goes the other way as well.

As it is customary with platformers, the controls must respond accurately to your input, otherwise some of the more difficult sections become frustrating instead. Thankfully, the game at hand features responsive and smooth controls, which makes it easy to get acquainted with the mechanics as well. Granted, you might still have problems with some of the sections, but that’s only because they require good coordination and lightning-fast reflexes.

Visually, the engine is in two dimensions, and there’s practically no difference between this issue and some of the earliest releases from Sega. While this may prove to be a turn off for some modern gamers, nostalgics and old school gamers should find exactly what they need in this. The actual level design is always on point and definitely challenging most of the time.

All things considered, Sonic Time Twisted may not be your usual Sonic the Hedgehog remake, but it certainly features all the right elements to please the fans. Hence, if you are in the mood for a retro platformer and you do not mind seeing Sonic again, this may very well be a decent choice.
