Silverfall is a role-playing game with hack'n'slash elements where players will have to customize a character and grow it to the rank of hero by completing lots of different quests.

The Shadow Mage is the great evil players will have to confront. Even from the beginning, this malicious wizard destroys the beautiful city of Silverfall. Gamers will take control of a character who's among the few survivors of this catastrophe. While living in the refugee camp, the player will get to complete his first missions in securing the camp.

Being a story-driven game, players will be able to make several choices that can affect the plot. The twists and turns turn in the narration are quite frequent and the moral choices you'll have to make are greyish at times. A difficult choice will have to be made: take the spiritual way or advance on the technological path. Each of them grants unique items, spells and a different choice in companions.

With dozens of gameplay hours and even more if you include secondary quests, the game will take players through several cities, countless forests and even barren deserts while exploring a huge map.

Before starting to play, one must first create a character using the customization tool. Almost every physical aspect about the character can be changed to one's liking. There are four different races to choose from: human, elf, goblin and troll, three different skills: melee and ranged combat, magic, racial and alignment, four different attributes: strength, constitution, agility and intelligence.

Attributes can be increase once the player levels-up. Each time a level is gained, four different attribute points are assigned. Strength points will help the players increase the melee fighting, agility increases the ranged damage, constitution has a direct impact on the player's health points and intelligence allows for stronger magic to be cast.

A nice aspect about the game is the companion option. Completing quests will give you access to the one or several companions. They have different skills and abilities and can really make a difference when fighting stronger opponents. One can equip items and consumable items on current companions as the inventory is open, for example if you control three characters, instead of three inventories, you'll have just one.

Exploring this immense world, meeting lots of different NPCs and interacting with your companions help immerse the player in a fantasy world with well defined steampunk elements like robots and steam-driven automatons.
