The Civilization series is practically synonymous with the 4X genre, because it represents the standard against which all the other games are measured. Ever since its release, the franchise managed to gather a substantial fan base, mainly due to the fact that it provides the players with a lot of freedom. Hence, the gameplay is fun and the replayability is through the roof, thanks to all the viable options you have at your disposal.

An expansion pack to continue the fun

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Brave New World is but an expansion pack to the original release, but it’s the kind of expansion pack that really does extend the game’s appeal and it makes a tremendous difference. Hence, if you enjoyed the game and somehow managed to get bored playing it, this add-on should provide you with the proper incentive, as well as many more hours of gameplay.

To start off with, nine new factions and leaders have been added, all of which came with various abilities and a distinctive look. In addition, there’s a thing called culture victory now, which basically allows you to conquer everyone using culture instead of war and death. As such, writers, painters, and great artists can be used to spread your own culture around the world.

Make more money using the new international trade routes

Another great addition is the fact that you can now increase your economic power by using international trade routes, which do exactly what you think they do. Naturally, there are risks involved in long-distance trade routes, but you can gain a lot of money if everything goes according to plan and you have enough confidence that you can defend them in case anything goes wrong.

Several smaller additions are part of the package as well, which have the power to dramatically change the way you play the game. Thus, even if you are extremely familiar with the original release, you might find that the new gameplay changes have a significant impact on the pace of the matches. Not only that, but you are also rewarded with a more varied array of choices, all of which increase the replayability factor as well.

A solid expansion pack that adds many hours of gameplay

All things considered, Sid Meier's Civilization V: Brave New World is almost exactly how expansion packs are supposed to be like, while not hurting the original formula too much. Hence, if you enjoyed the vanilla release, this should be in your library as well.
