Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is a remake of the famous game that was originally launched back in 2002 by the studio Croteam.

Serious Sam 2 was a real hit when it was initially released, mostly because it was one of the last game in its generation that had really simple gameplay and a high score system, things that were all that popular. Things like hidden levels or droves of enemies could be found in much older games, like Doom or Quake and the Croteam developer wanted to get that back.

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is a game that doesn’t allow the player to sit still. No matter where you are in the map, the AI always knows where you are, and it’s sending droves of enemies. Some are just fast; others will detonate when they get close to you. There are of course giant robots shooting lasers, but those are much easier to dodge.

Sam wants to go to the Sirius system with the help of the starship SSS Centerpiece, the ship crashes back to Earth, back in time when the Mayans were ruling Central America. Players need to fight through numerous waves of enemies so that Sam can get to another ship that can get him to Sirius.

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter looks really good for a remake, and you can still notice the influence of the old game. Players will get access to some new weapons, new enemies, and will have to face much bigger numbers of creatures that want them dead.

The engine is pretty good at keeping the pace, and it doesn’t have very high system requirements, but that was always true for the games made by Croteam
