Take a break from groundbreaking graphics and effects to take time and enjoy an RPG that’s in full ASCII and comes with more memorable content and humor than most games you’ve ever played.

SanctuaryRPG might be a game that won’t get your attention because it doesn’t have those really nice ‘axe to the face’ and ‘parts flying everywhere from the fireblast spell’ visual effects. It doesn’t provide those but if content is what you value, then SanctuaryRPG is a great example of what can be achieved by writing a great game literally and figuratively.

Most of the charm that comes out of SanctuaryRPG is from its witty and unexpectedly logical storytelling of a world that’s populated by vicious beasts, slimy worms that like to be petted and robots that put themselves together after you defeat them. From the moment you read your character’s description it will be clear that this won’t be your typical walk in the RPG park.

Things will get strange, interesting, challenging and all of those and the rest will be coupled with a great sense of humor.

SanctuaryRPG is put together to make a lot of sense in terms of gameplay. You get to create a custom character and that character can be shaped and molded into something truly unique. There are are skills to learn, abilities to improve, stats allocation to think through and plenty of choices to make in regards to how you want your hero to be.

Although the game doesn't take itself too serious most of the time, battles are anything but a joke. Some monsters will have you hanging on by a thread of HP, others will be easy to kill and some will leave behind some pretty cool loot. Regardless of the scenario, every battle is enjoyable since there are a lot of skill combinations to use.

On a closing note, SanctuaryRPG is exactly the kind of game you have and need to play if you want to reconnect to the roots of RPG. It’s easy to play and yet challenging, it will have you laughing a heck of a lot and you will end up enjoying every minute spent with it.
