S.C.A.R. - Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo

SCAR - Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo is a racing simulation game where you will get to feel the power (horse power that is) of some amazing looking Italian cars.

Once the game begins you will be prompted to choose a profile and if no profile was previously saved, you can create a new one. Pick your favorite car and your favorite color than press the Enter key. Needless to say that only Alfa Romeo cars are available and you will have to race them in beautiful Italian tracks while listening to 100% Italian music. What makes the game different from other driving simulators out there is its role-playing component. You will be able to customize your driver by choosing its skill distribution and you must do this before each race if you want to win.

There are three different modes you can choose from: dynasty mode which is a like a championship, instant action where you will get to try out various cars and tracks, multiplayer where you will be able to challenge friends or other people over the internet. Winning a race will allow you to improve the driver's skills. Blending them together requires patience and you must achieve this in order to win the championship. Tuning the car before a race is essential, if you want to succeed that is. Don't forget about sponsors because putting as many names on your car means bringing in more cash and eventually more upgrades.

Unlike other racing games out there, this one features a relatively small amount of cars and tracks you can choose from. Also, the graphics, top nudge for 2005, will seem to most of you quite outdated. When the game first appeared, many critics compared it to Gran Turismo 4, yet SCAR can't hold a candle to GT when it comes to content.
