Russian Classics – Bigfoot Competition is a racing simulator that allows you to get behind the wheel of one of these machines and push it to the limit, by competing against other drivers in checkpoint-based competitions. Moreover, the environment is designed to be as difficult to navigate as possible, with all sorts of holes, hills and trees spread every which way, as well as various other hazards.

In case you are not familiar with how checkpoint races work, the competitors basically have to go through a series of gates in a predetermined order and get to the finish line first. However, these gates are randomly placed around the environment, which means that you can easily get disoriented and lose track of which checkpoint is the next. A pointer helps you find your way in the game, but that is only if you manage to look at it constantly and completely ignore the road ahead.

When you actually get to play the game, on the other hand, you might stumble into a few problems that make it unusually difficult to enjoy the experience properly, such as the vehicle control. Due to the fact that the truck responds very slowly to your input and it rarely does so accurately, you must learn how to think a few moves ahead if you want to stand a chance. Every little mistake is punished and the AI takes full advantage of this, seeing as it is always 100% in control of the vehicle and usually leaves you in a cloud of dust at the finish line.

The technical aspect of the game can also cause some episodes of uncontrollable anger, especially when it comes to collisions, inertia and the camera. First off, you must know that the truck has the same torque potential as a unicycle with a flat, which means that even the tiniest hill can cause you to get stuck, due to the fact that you are unable to climb it. When you do manage to catch some speed downhill, any kind of light steering can send the truck flying like a plastic bag through the air, with the camera trying to somehow follow the same trajectory as well.

In the end, Russian Classics – Bigfoot Competition is not exactly kind of racing game one would enjoy playing for too long, mostly because the game itself makes tremendous efforts to annoy you. Hence, regardless of how nice it would be to explore the open maps and enjoy the scenery, it is definitely not worth the bother.
