Runaway Express Mystery

Runaway Express Mystery is a hidden object game that takes you on a journey to rescue your children who have been kidnapped by what looks to be the conductor of a train. Throughout the game you will have to examine scenes, find clues and obtain objects that are needed to reach your goal.

The game starts off with you narrating what seems to be a perfect day with your children at a train exhibition. As you are walking along the station, the little ones wander up into a train to play. A very short while after, you see them next to a dark figure and immediately, the train leaves the station with your children aboard.

You rush to catch the train and manage to climb aboard at the last possible moment. Finding yourself at the end of the train, in the last cart, you how have to make your way through each segment of the train and find your daughter and son.

As a hidden object game, Runaway Express Mystery approaches the same gameplay. You are placed in a multitude of scenarios in which you will have to gather various objects, combine and use them to solve puzzles, open doors and so on. Some are easy to spot while other require a bit of extra effort.

As you make your way through each of the train’s carts, you encounter multiple people that you question about the whereabouts of your children, initially with no apparent success. Because you don’t really trust or believe any of them, you create a list of suspects and attach to il all the information you gather while searching for clues.

Runaway Express Mystery doesn’t shine very bright in the hidden object game category. The puzzles have been seen before and some of the voice acting is rather off. From a visual point of view, the game looks good and it’s what saves it from being just another hidden object release.
