Rooks Keep

Rooks Keep is a chess combat game where you will be able to control individually chess pieces and fight in order to keep your place on the board.

The game offers a single player option, skirmish, where you can choose between different modes. Deathmatch will have you practicing your fighting skills in an arena by using a variety of characters. Depending on your kills in the arena you'll earn points thus unlocking more powerful units.

Last Man Standing, as the name suggests, will have you using tactics in order to be the only one that remains in the arena. Conversion is one interesting mode where each unit you kill will be added to your personal armada.

The single player modes are also available in multiplayer. While playing online or on LAN, players will be able to choose to play a traditional game of Chess or the Combat Chess where, if you're place on the board is challenged by another unit, you will be able to dispute it in the arena.

Enter a fantasy world where chess pieces have been turned into enraged warriors who fight for survival and domination. After taking control of a unit, you will have two different ways to attack your opponents: by using the quick attack or the slow attack. While the slow attack deals more damage it is also more easily blocked by opponents.

Defending from attacks is an important element in combat. The game has special colors in order to make players parry or defend more easily. A quick attack is highlighted orange, a parry is highlighted green and a slow attack will make the weapon glow red for just a short amount of time. Successful attacks and parries will increase rage/stamina.

When killing enemies, you will also gain skills points. Use them wisely in order to upgrade your character's abilities.

Notice that due to the bloody nature of the game and the amount of gore introduced by the developers, your chess playing abilities may be altered. Leaving humor aside, this is one great game that will appeal to those who are searching for a non-conventional chess game as well as to those who seek some classic melee fighting.
