In case you are not all that interested in non-stop action, or thrilling sequences that take advantage of your quick reflexes, point-and-click adventure games are the answer. Featuring complicated and intriguing stories, as well as complex puzzles that demand logical thinking, adventure games can be a one-of-a-kind experience, as long as you do no mind staring at the same picture on the screen for hours.
RHEM 2, as the title implies, is the second installment in the series and it basically brings back the same winning formula, only with a different plot and new puzzles to bend your mind. Unsurprisingly, not many things have changed other than that, although there are very few improvements you can bring to a system as simple as point-and-click anyway.
This time, the plot takes you in a secret city located somewhere underground and you must find a certain artifact in order to get out of the city. Moreover, you also have to take a picture of it and deliver it to Zetais, one of the few characters that's part of the story, beside your own. Speaking of which, the characters are definitely not emphasized at all throughout the game and neither is the story, since all the work went into the actual puzzles.
When it comes to the riddles you have to solve in order to advance through the levels, it is worth mentioning that they are very complex and intricate, although they are also somewhat logical and intuitive. Hence, while it might take you quite some time to come up with a solution to some of them, they do make sense in the end and it is definitely not all about pixel hunting for small objects to click on.
Some of these missions involve a bit of exploration as well, although not for sightseeing. Even if the game does not feature any kind of 3D graphics and you can only interact with the environments by clicking on things, the world is pretty interesting and nicely rendered, with plenty of detail to decorate the landscapes.
In the end, RHEM 2 is definitely not for everyone, especially since in does not make an effort to accommodate new players all. Hence, you are thrown into the game under the presumption that you know how a point-and-click adventure works, which can be quite disorienting for newcomers.
