Rexodus VR Demo

Dinosaurs may have ruled the Earth for millions of years, but they remained very simple creatures in regards to intelligence. Hence, they never evolved past the sharper teeth and longer necks that made it easier for them to feed. On the other hand, it’s interesting to think what they might have achieved if the circumstances had been different.

Rexodus VR is a first-person experience based on the graphic novel with the same name, and it aims to provide you with a more intimate view of the universe that was created to host the story. Hence, the game is merely a demonstration at the moment, which means that it’s not very interactive and there’s no real action yet.

In case you are not familiar with the story, it’s quite an interesting idea, at least if your mind is open to weird ideas. As such, it’s all based on the fact that dinosaurs were actually very intelligent and technologically-advanced creatures that used lava to power their superior technology. However, an entity called The Black Blood arrived on Earth and started to consume everything, which prompted the dinosaurs to leave the planet behind and look for another suitable home.

The whole point of the game is to let you immerse yourself in the fictional universe created by the writers and actually see the places and the characters described in the graphic novel. Thanks to the superb VR simulation and great level design, you can truly get a taste of how it would feel to be part of that world. Unfortunately, it’s a pretty short experience, especially since all you do is observe.

As far as the technical details are concerned, the game was designed using Unreal Engine 4, so it certainly has the necessary power to render almost anything the artists might imagine. The animations are fluid and believable as well, even if the characters are still pretty whacky, just like in the graphic novel.

In the end, Rexodus VR might not make very much sense to those who are not familiar with the graphic novel, but it’s an engaging experience nonetheless. It’s also great way to put your VR headset to the test.
