Redline Single Player Demo
An intriguing first-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world filled with disease and a war between vicious gangs. #First person shooter #Futuristic FPS #Control vehicle #Redline #Shooter #FPS
The apocalypse has been imagined in countless ways over the centuries, but they have become a bit more realistic and plausible lately, mostly because we now hold the power to end the world ourselves. Hence, whether its nuclear holocaust, machine uprising, or catastrophic failure of the planet due to environmental pollution, there are many ways humanity can meet its end in the nearby future.
Redline is first-person shooter that comes with a bunch of new ideas to the genre, especially when it comes tot he background story and the gameplay mechanics used throughout the game. The latter are also responsible for a weird mix of racing elements as well, since a great part of the game can be played from within a vehicle and the controls very similar to titles like Carmageddon.
As far as the story is concerned, a lot of work went into explaining the disastrous state of the planet seen in the game, although not all of it is quite obvious from the plot itself. However, you should know that it all revolves around a strange new way to produce and transport energy, which quickly gets out of hand and, in the span of a few years, the man manages to detonate powerful explosives on the moon and disturb its orbit by quite a lot, as well as the entire balance here on Earth.
When it comes to the FPS aspects present in the game, they are not all that different from any other that was on the market at the date of its release, except for the sci-fi collection of weapons to go along with the story. The vehicle sections, on the other hand, are definitely exciting and entertaining, especially since you are free to explore the environments and basically run over everyone who happens to stand in your way.
Graphically, you should not expect too much from the game, especially since it was release quite a long time ago and the years have not been to kind with this particular visual style. However, a lot of work went into portraying a very detailed and atmospheric world, filled with a lot of references and plenty of interesting landscapes that are worthy of remembrance.
Even if Redline might envision a rather dark future for humanity and our planet, the atmosphere it manages to create is exquisite, thanks to the well-written plot and the great landscapes. The combination of FPS and racing mechanics are definitely worth a try.
