Traveling through time is a common cliche in movies and video games, because it easily explains plot holes without the need to include too many details. On the other hand, it can also create an awful lot of plot holes by itself, if the writers do not pay attention to any paradoxes that might arise. Hence, the subject is tricky no matter what, although it is still being used an awful lot in many formats.
Redemption Cemetery: Clock of Fate Collector's Edition is a casual adventure game in which you have to solve puzzles in order to advance the story. The gameplay is very similar to what you might have experienced in a classic point-and-click game, only much more restricted and basic. As such, you are only allowed to look at certain areas of interest throughout the locations, which also happen to hold the items you need.
The story is pretty straightforward as well, although it contains a decent amount of mystery and intrigue to keep you guessing. As it happens, you need to investigate a derelict subway, where mysterious murders have taken place. Not only that, but all sorts of weird things happen while you are down there, not to mention the fact that you also travel back in time the moment you descend underground.
When you are not watching cutscenes or reading old newspapers, your task is to make your way further underground. However, the road is often blocked by various obstacles, which means that you have to come up with solutions to get past them. The necessary items are hidden all over the place, and you’ll often have to go back in order to open a drawer, or use a newly gained object.
The puzzles are by no means complicated, but they might be confusing sometimes. Thankfully, there is a hint system in place for such situations, so you can get a bit of help when you are stuck. As far as the graphics are concerned, it’s quite obvious that the designers put a bit of effort into the artwork, not to mention the detailed environments you get to explore. There is decent voice acting and a soundtrack as well, so the atmosphere should feel complete.
When it’s all said and done, Redemption Cemetery: Clock of Fate Collector's Edition should be more than appropriate for the fans of the genre at hand. It looks pretty, the puzzles are engaging, yet not very difficult, and the added horror atmosphere makes experience more enjoyable.
