RITG: Race In The Galaxy Demo

Formula 1 is one of the most challenging racing competitions in the world, and it’s no wonder, given the incredibly fast cars and very skilled drivers. It takes a lot of practice and a lot of talent to become a driver for one of the current F1 teams, but not even that is enough sometimes, given the low number of places available at any given time. However, one might wonder how things are going to look in the future.

RITG: Race In The Galaxy is an interesting racing game when it comes to gameplay, although it certainly doesn’t revolutionize the actual driving mechanics. In fact, it’s an arcade, top-down experience with cars that levitate instead of touching the tarmac, so the handling is pretty weird, but there’s more to the game than that, especially in the career mode.

Hence, you have to concentrate a lot more on the actual career of your driver, because it’s not as simple as it is in other games. Besides the fact that you start as the secondary driver who is sometimes asked to give up his position for the primary driver in a race, you also receive less compensation for your wins. On the other hand, it pays well to be respectful and obey the team orders.

The actual gameplay can be a bit rough at first, given the fact that your car floats. Thrusters are used to steer, accelerate and brake, so it can be rather unintuitive when you manage to pick up a bit of speed and you need to take a sharp corner or brake quickly. On the other hand, the mechanics are pretty rewarding if you take the time to get familiar with them.

As for the graphics, the top-down perspective is not the best suited for high level of detail, but the colorful tracks go very well with the theme of the game. The cars are difficult to tell apart sometimes when it comes to different models, but it’s not that important when you are struggling to drive straight. Hence, this side of the game does not have such a big impact on the gameplay.

In the end, it’s the career mode that makes RITG: Race In The Galaxy shine so brightly, even if this prototype is not exactly a very accurate representation of the final product. Thus, you should certainly keep an eye on its development process and see whether the creators manage to put their ideas into practice.
