Pre-Civilization: Marble Age is a lightweight strategy game that packs plenty of features from multiple connex genres to create one interesting and delightful experience. It’s a nice blend of TBS, simulation, history and time management, neatly wrapped with Flash powered graphics.

Pre-Civilization: Marble Age comes with simple graphics that make it look rather harmless for strategy game fans but it’s a bit deceitful. You start off with a small settlement which you have to economically and technologically nourish into a thriving civilisation.

As far as features go, there is a large number of technologies to research, buildings to construct, a vast world to explore, alliances to forge and of course, other cities to attack. For its size, Pre-Civilization: Marble Age offers unexpected variety and that’s great since there are several gameplay paths to take in order to complete your main goal, which, depending on the city you take, differs.

In Pre-Civilization: Marble Age there are several types of resources that are used to balance and propel your city to greatness and in the tradition of good TBS games, you have to be mindful of how you spend resources. It’s easier to focus on one path, peace or war, because tech allocated points are rather few and they do make a huge difference to how the game progresses.

A nice feature of the game is that random events occur from time to time and they can have a positive or negative impact on your evolution. You can’t really predict what’s going to happen but one thing that’s best you look out for are enemy attacks. They don’t make a habit of sending over any diplomats to negotiate so you always need to have an army ready to fight.

On a closing note, Pre-Civilization: Marble Age has all the right perks to make it an above decent game. It’s not that challenging but it does test the strategist in you.
