Paper Dungeons

Paper Dungeons adds a new layer to traditional roguelike titles and brings lots of online content that mix elements from both board-game tactics and role-playing adventures.

Paper Dungeons comes with three game modes (Adventure, Puzzle, and Rogue), each offering a unique gameplay experience. In Adventure Mode, players will have to face the perils of the dungeons by playing as one of the five available classes (warrior, archer, priest, mage, and thief).

Moreover, monsters and items are randomly placed on each map and in each battle you will use two dice (one for damage and the other for effects) with six possible actions. Upon leveling up, you can improve one of the four available attributes and unlock new sets of dice.

Rogue Mode provides a traditional roguelike adventure, in which your character continues to level up as you explore each dungeon level until he meets his match.

Puzzle Mode on the other hand, comes with an interesting approach over the classic campaign levels where all the mobs and items are show right from the start. The monsters will not even chase you, but you'll have to carefully plan your attacks to survive through each level.

If you're thinking about multiplayer, you should know that at the end of the Early Access program, the title will offer to all users who purchased the game no more than three modes: Co-op, PvP and D-Master.

While Co-op will allow you to play the entire Adventure campaign along with a friend, in PvP up to four players will battle for fame and glory in a monster filled arena. Here you'll be able to unlock new types of dice that will offer special skills against the other classes.

Finally, the D-Master mode makes you play as the Dungeon Master against 1 to 4 players that will have to work together and defeat you.

Paper Dungeons is a welcome addition to the roguelike RPG genre that will probably remember you of those childhood games you've played with your friends. The game offers plenty of things to do in this fantasy world in which the outcome of your dice can change everything.

When you're done with the single player campaign, you can always challenge your friends to a multiplayer PvP match or prove to them that your are the best Dungeon Master in D-master mode
