Nordic Storm Solitaire

Solitaire is one of those games everyone plays at least once in a lifetime, probably when the Internet is down or when their MMORPG is downloading a new update. It’s a bit of a phenomenon in its way and throughout time several variations of it have emerged.

One of them is Nordic Storm Solitaire, a card game that borrows from the core rules of the game and adds a few new twists to make things more interesting.

First thing’s first, Nordic Storm Solitaire looks OK for a card game. The cards themselves have a nice Nordic theme, and the HUD is decent too. What will get to you, probably, are the background images, or rather paintings. They’re nice but a bit too childish.

Other than that, the audio and visual effects are well created and really do give a bit more value to the game. It also makes the entire experience a whole lot more pleasant. Overall, the game is well-crafted and should be appealing to most card game fans.

When it comes to playing, Nordic Storm Solitaire has very little to do with the original as it adds several gameplay mechanics to make it more immersive; if that actually applies to Solitaire. Apart from matching cards in descending or ascending order, you also get to use hammers to free cards, some need to be released from blocks of ice and so on.

Depending on how well you do, gold is awarded, and you can use it to purchase power-ups that do come in handy. And should be used wisely.

On a closing note, Nordic Storm Solitaire is a decent thing to have around if you’re looking for a casual means of spending some time. It gets tedious after a while, but card game fans should find some enjoyment with it.
