Nadia Was Here Demo
Try to save the world from a horrible time loop in this 16-bit RPG featuring fast-paced combat and three main characters. #Retro RPG #Role-playing game #Adventure game #Role-play #Adventure #Quest
Retro games somehow manage to remain popular after all this time, although that’s only true for 8 or 16-bit productions that resemble old console classics. Hence, you probably won’t receive any attention whatsoever if your plan is to release something similar to Gothic I when it comes to graphics. Pixel graphics are just fine, on the other hand, and they can be pretty amazing, truth be told.
Nadia Was Here is a top-down RPG with a focus on story and fast-paced combat mechanics, sporting three main characters and quite the intriguing plot. It also features a few interesting changes in regards to gameplay, so it won’t feel like any other RPG on the market. On the other hand, you need to make do with 16-bit retro graphics, which shouldn’t be a problem if you’re not in it for the polygon count.
As far as the story is concerned, the events take place in a fictional world called Amytah, which is full of the usual fantasy cliches, including wizards, terrible creatures and everything in between. However, the key difference is that this realm is stuck in a century-long time loop. What this means is that everything people build in the span of a hundred years disappears and they go back to nothing.
Unlike in most RPGs, you do not have to worry about levels or anything like that, because your characters learn through repetition. Hence, your skills increase the more you use them, much like in the TES franchise. You also have three main characters to worry about, and they all feature different abilities and side stories. In short, it should be fun to juggle between them over the course of the game.
As for the graphics, they are certainly striking, especially since the colors are very bright and in-your-face. This can cause a bit of confusion sometimes, mainly because it can be difficult to see enemies or items. However, the level design itself is quite nice, especially since there are so many different environments to explore over the course of the story.
When it’s all said and done, Nadia Was Here certainly shows a lot of potential, especially if you enjoy unique fantasy worlds and old school gameplay mechanics. Thus, you can support the developer by participating in the game’s Kickstarter campaign.
