Missile Cards Demo

Defending against an extra-planetary threat is not something we are equipped to do at the moment, but then again we do not really need to be. Aliens do not seem interested in attacking us, and we actually do not have any evidence that any of them exist out there. However, there are plenty of sci-fi scenarios out there that tackle the subject.

Missile Cards is a fun card game with simple gameplay mechanics, in which your goal is to defend your base against an incoming asteroid rain. In order to do so, you have to arm yourself with all sorts of missiles and fire them at the right time, otherwise the asteroids come down on your base and you take damage. It might be a bit tough to grasp the mechanics at first, but they are actually fairly simple.

You are awarded with action points after each turn, and more of them allow you to get stronger and stronger missiles. Nuclear warheads make an appearance after a while, and they can help you get rid of the larger rocks with ease. On the other hand, it’s important to carefully plan your attacks, otherwise you might be left exposed before the threat has passed.

There are multiple planets to defend, and the challenge gets tougher as you manage to advance. On the other hand, more cards are unlocked after each victory, which in turn increase your survival chances as well. The whole thing is a bit too simple, on the other hand, since there are only a handful of cards in total, as well as too few levels to go through.

Lastly, the graphics are not bad, but they are nothing out of the ordinary either. The retro style works great with the general mood of the game, but the lack of variety in the backgrounds is a bit disappointing. It’s also worth noting that the cards are very basic too, which doesn’t feel that great when you are working hard to add new cards to your collection, cards that look more or less the same.

In the end, Missile Cards is not quite there yet, but it has a chance at greatness if the developers keep working on it and manage to add more content until the full game is released. Until then, you can support them by voting for the game on Steam Greenlight.
