A secret racing society that comes out at night
The game starts off by informing you about a notorious street racing society that meets each night to have some fun in the biggest cities around the world, including Tokyo, Los Angeles and Paris. Your role is to beat each and every one of them in a race, in order to establish yourself as the best racer and be crowned the international champion.
As you might have guessed, the story line is not all that important, since it is merely there to offer some meaning to all the races you take part in. Hence, you can disregard it entirely and still be able to finish the game, although you can have a bit more fun by paying attention to the various competitors you have to run against. In essence, the main idea is to have fun and enjoy yourself, without having to worry about car damage, handling or various other gameplay mechanics.
Perform wild stunts and make your own shortcuts
In order to make the races more interesting, the game allows you to perform a few tricks and stunts to add a bit of variety to the races. Thus, you can easily flip the car on its side and continue racing on two wheels, or use the available nitro to obtain a significant speed boot for a few seconds, enough to surpass your opponents if you ever find yourself trailing behind them.
Another interesting aspect of the races is the fact that you are not limited to just one route, since you can basically take any shortcut you want, as long as you come out on top in the end. In case the police is on your trails, you can use smart evasive actions to avoid getting caught, or even hide and wait for them to lose your trail.
An entertaining and adrenaline-infused racing game
In the end, Midnight Club II defines its own brand of racing game, using crazy stunts, incredible speeds and a very arcade driving style. The result is pure fun all-around, especially if you get to play it with your friends in multiplayer and take advantage of all the game has to offer.
