Technology is constantly evolving nowadays, especially when it comes to computers and electronics. Processors double in power every couple of years, and scientists always manage to make things even smaller when it comes to transistors and microchips. However, things are about to get even more interesting, given the fact that we are starting to merge with computers on an anatomical level.

Memory's Dogma CODE:01 is an interactive visual novel in which you are presented with a very intriguing future, one that shows you how the world would be if our memories could be recorded in their entirety. To make matters even better, the game features gorgeous HD artwork and a great cast of voice actors to bring the characters to life, which makes the story that much more intriguing.

In short, it all revolves around a college student by the name of Kusuhara Hiroki, who loses his best friend and falls into depression. To get over it, he decides to steal his friend’s memories from the facility they are stored in, and he has only a few days to accomplish his goals before the said memories are forever erased. On top of that, his other friends are also harboring a dark secret that comes to light over the course of the story.

As mentioned before, this is an interactive visual novel, which means that there are multiple endings, and you are allowed to make decisions over the course of the story. It’s not really a role-playing experience, given the fact that most of your time is spent reading the text and watching the characters interact on their own. Even the actual choices are pretty simple, since all you are really doing is trying to avoid bad endings.

Lastly the graphics are certainly worthy of a mention, because each scene is incredibly detailed and moody, thanks to the great artwork and nice composition. However, the voice acting is up there as well, given the fact that some of the biggest names in the anime industry are voicing the characters. Thus, it should be a real treat for those who are up to speed with the Japanese culture.

In the end, Memory's Dogma CODE:01 is quite the intriguing visual novel, especially if you are interested in technology and sci-fi concepts. Moreover, it’s also a real treat for the eyes, at least if you are comfortable with the anime-style character design.
