Luckslinger Demo
Take on the desert with its snakes, armadillos and rogue gunslingers in this platformer with an epic soundtrack. #Action platformer #Western platformer #Adventure platformer #Platformer #Luck #Western
Luckslinger is something special. It just is. You won’t get that from the way it looks because from that point of view, it’s just another pixel graphics oriented platformer that seems to have a Wild West thing going on.
But when you actually run it, and you see that it has a cinematography inspired intro with a soundtrack that sounds really good, you get a good feeling. Also, the game cast features a duck who plays himself. After a short while the soundtrack gets simply awesome and Luckslinger takes off.
For those who love hip-hop and good beats, this will be more than you will expect. Luckslinger manages to fuse a fantastic soundtrack with gameplay that’s absolutely a blast. It takes the core principles of an action platformer and adds a distinct flavour to them.
You play the role of a gunslinger with apparently no preset purpose but things take a turn for the interesting once he stumbles across a certain item. In Luckslinger, luck is a currency, it can be collected and used to actively influence gameplay. However, that only applies to good luck, because the bad kind will find you at random moments and it won’t be pretty.
With luck by your side you can deflect bullets, have a tree trunk sprout under your feet just as you were about to fall into a bottomless pit or your duck gets the guts to kill a poisonous snake before it bites you. Each of these events can be triggered by you when they are needed but they can also happen at random. It’s a really great mechanic that lets you know this game is different.
I can’t not mention the awesomeness that is the soundtrack one more time. It just goes perfectly with the game and everything that’s put into it. At times, it makes you fearlessly push on into the desert shooting at the rhythm of the beats.
Dodging bullets, jumping over obstacles and pumping bad guys full of led is something entirely different in Luckslinger, it’s an experience. It’s kind of impossible to not see anyone having fun with this game. Moreover, apart from the favorable ambiance and gameplay, the little bits of story and narration are totally witty and humorous.
There’s more to mention about Luckslinger but the conclusion will be the same and it’s simple. Play Luckslinger. You’re missing out if you don’t.
The demo is rather short but it is enough to get a taste of what will be when it’s released. If you get a good vibe from it, show your support by visiting the Luckslinger Greenlight page and the Luckslinger Kickstarter campaign.
