Lemuria: Lost in Space

One truth everyone knows about outer space is that the conditions are extremely dangerous for living things. Astronauts travel inside heavy ships protected by all kinds of layers and materials, not to mention their suits that add even more protection, but not even that is enough to shield them completely. Hence, this is why most of our exploration missions use robots instead of humans.

Lemuria: Lost in Space is a point & click adventure game in which your goal is to control a robot as it makes its way around a seemingly abandoned spaceship, trying to figure out what events transpired there before everyone disappeared. Everything revolves around being able to keep your robot powered up throughout the adventure, as well as solving the puzzles that block your path.

The spaceship you explore is called Lemuria 7, and it has just reappeared in the solar system after missing for 40 years. Since there doesn’t seem to be anyone aboard, a robot is sent to investigate the matter. The robot has a variety of abilities that allow it to survive in the harsh conditions, including radiation protection and a few skills that can be used to bypass electronic security systems.

The robot can also be upgraded with new abilities as you move on, but it’s also important to keep an eye on its battery levels. More energy packs can be found throughout the levels, but you still need to manage your robots power consumption to make sure it reaches the next battery. The puzzles pose quite the challenge as well, since you need to move quickly and come up with solutions in a timely manner.

Lastly, the interface is very straightforward and intuitive, at least if you are already familiar with point & click games. All you have to do is click on the next area to move the robot, and do the same whenever you want to interact with an object or pick it up. The puzzle mini-games are a bit more demanding, on the other hand, although there are no button-mashing situations to worry about.

All things considered, Lemuria: Lost in Space is a pretty interesting game, especially since the developers were not afraid to concentrate on the story and the gameplay instead of the graphics. Thus, the experience should be engaging enough to provide you with a good time when the final version is released.
