LOOP

LOOP, a wonderfully minimalistic puzzle game with an immersive ambiance and intuitive gameplay that immediately hooks you. All you have to do is swap tiles to create loops, but you get a lot more out of this game than the satisfaction of completing one level at a time.

The moment you start LOOP you are greeted with the first level that serves as a tutorial. There are no explanations, or hints because you don’t need them. LOOP is a puzzle game that’s built to explain itself as you play it.

The goal of each level is to form two, three or more loops by swapping or rotating hexagonal tiles on a board. The design is very simple, but it’s the kind that’s tasteful, appealing and makes the game self-explanatory. You really don’t get to see a game that has so little but yet feels complete.

Good puzzle games have a habit of ‘stressing’ your mind while playing them but that’s something most people enjoy. LOOP’s gameplay and look give the impression that it is a game that might not put up much of a fight although that’s not the case.

Each level tends to offer an increase in difficulty and the loops you recreate are tangled in more complex ways. LOOP will keep your mind active every second of gameplay but thanks to its relaxing soundtrack and audio effects, you’ll be able to ‘feel the burn’ without any kind of stress. LOOP wants you to enjoy the time you spend with it.

The full version of LOOP offers 100 levels and although that sounds like a lot, given the laidback nature of it, time will surely fly by and before you know it, you’ve just completed the final puzzle. If there’s one thing you can be sure of, it’s that you won’t feel as if you wasted time playing it, if anything, you actually gained time with yourself.
