Kao the Kangaroo Round 2 Demo

When an evil hunter kidnaps a bunch of animals from the forest, someone needs to rescue them, even if that means having to face the hunter himself in order to do so. The task falls upon Kao, the courageous kangaroo with experience in the field of boxing, which proves to be quite valuable in the adventure that awaits him.

Kao the Kangaroo Round 2 takes you through a wide array of colorful, but dangerous environments, in order to collect 3000 coins and reach the hunter. Along the way, you have to face off against many other enemies, all of which do their best to inconvenience you and make the quest more difficult. You can, however, dispatch with them quite easily, using your powerful fists to do so.

As far as the actual mechanics are concerned, the action revolves around various mini-games that you stumble upon as you advance through the levels, many of which require quick reflexes and good coordination in order to complete. In the meanwhile, the game plays out as a basic platformer, which means that you have to overcome obstacles and avoid falling into pits as you jump from ledge to ledge.

At the end of every chapter, Kao must face a slightly more powerful foe before moving on, which means that you get to take part in quite a few boss battles along the way. While they are not too complicated per se, they do get annoying and repetitive after a few minutes, especially if you happen do die a few times and have to restart the entire battle.

Visually, the graphic quality is more than appropriate, with colorful environments and nice character animations. The other technical aspects, on the other hand, could have used a bit more work, especially when it comes to controls and camera placement. Thus, beside the fact that the character does not always respond as he should to your input, the camera must be manually adjusted almost constantly in order to face the right direction, which really fragments the gameplay, because the camera is controlled with separate keys on the keyboard, rather than the mouse.

Although it sometimes gets very frustrating and annoying, Kao the Kangaroo Round 2 is a nice game, overall, especially if you are a fan of the series. Moreover, the gameplay mechanics can be quite fun, not to mention all the interesting mini-games spread throughout the stages.
