Jet Racing eXtreme

Jet Racing eXtreme is an indie racing simulator that has you racing a very powerful and very fragile car prototype on a full concrete track that’s way too dangerous to drive on.

The first thing you notice about Jet Racing eXtreme is how good it looks. For an indie project, this goes well past what you would normally expect and because of that, you’ll want it to play as good as it looks. And you’re in luck.

The spotlight in Jet Racing eXtreme falls on gameplay. You drive a prototype of a car that is built with two jet engines, two rocket boosters and a set of very fragile tires, all strapped onto an even more fragile body. Crashing this badboy is something that’s going to happen a lot and when it does, it looks almost perfect.

Jet Racing eXtreme puts a great deal of trust in physics, how they are used and how they look. In both cases, the word to describe them is excellent. Slightly hitting a bit of concrete at 300 km/h with your rim will inflict a certain amount of damage and affect steering. Landing after a big jump can cause your wheels to pop like popcorn and well, a crash will split your car into pieces and all of these scenarios and their variations feel and look as accurate as can be.

Jet Racing eXtreme is not your typical racing simulator. Since so much importance is given to physics, keeping the car on the track and mostly in one piece will be challenging. Driving it kind of feels like you’re behind the wheel of a dragster, all power and no handling, but once you crash and burn a few times, you’ll get familiar with how the car behaves and drifting becomes a real possibility.

The car’s design is not something we can overlook. It looks really good and it’s gifted with a braking system that looks totally awesome. More can be done with it in terms of details but since the game is actually in its alpha stage, it’s not a thing you need to focus on. Improvements are inbound.

To sum things up, Jet Racing eXtreme looks great, driving is fun and challenging and most of all, crashing the car is always a blast to watch. Having a racing game that’s as fun when you win as it is when you crash is something worth looking into.
