House of the Dead III Demo

Whenever the undead creatures are involved, they always have the same purpose: spread their disease and kill everything that smells like human. Naturally, the fact that they are not technically alive makes them very hard to kill, which completes the perfect recipe for a wide array of horror films, books or video games.

The House of the Dead III is part of a trilogy that features massive quantities of gore and horror at every step, as well as more than a fair share of scare jumps and terrifying levels. As in the previous installments, the game is centered around a post-apocalyptic world that is now home to every kind of monster imaginable, all of which are trying their best to consume the few survivors that fight for their lives.

As one of these survivors, your job is to travel between various objectives and shoot everything that moves on the way there, using your trusty shotgun to do so. Although you cannot actually move using the keyboard, since the game is basically formed out of static scenes and the only things that are mobile is your gun and the monsters coming toward you, the atmosphere contains the right ingredients to be quite terrifying at times.

Beside the casual zombies that stroll around the environment at a manageable pace, there are other kinds of hell spawns as well, all of which feature special attacks and abilities to make it more difficult for you to advance. Thus, whether they can perform long jumps toward you when you least expect it, or use long range attacks to avoid being easy targets, the undead always find a way to take you by surprise.

It is worth noting the fact that a lot of work went into level design, as well as into the highly detailed monsters you have to face off against. Thus, every creature can lose limbs or gain some extra holes whenever you shoot at them, which makes the entire experience that much more atmospheric. Moreover, the boss fights contain even more detail, as well as a higher difficulty level.

In the end, The House of the Dead III features the same elements that made the franchise so popular, only this time in higher resolution and with much more variety when it comes to the monsters and the environment design. You also get to witness an interesting story, completed by the curious characters and their experience through the apocalyptic world.
