Defeat mythical creatures and rid the world of evil
Hercules is a very entertaining platformer that puts you in the shoes of the hero with the same name, as he roams the ancient lands, looking for trouble. Hence, he must avoid getting killed by a variety of traps, obstacles and creatures, which seem to follow him around wherever he goes. After the introductory training mission, you are encouraged to go out and start spreading pain to whomever happens to cross your path.
Along the way, you meet some of the most iconic characters in the Greek mythology, including Medusa, a centaur and even a giant cyclops that is about to destroy an entire city, just to challenge you to a fight. Using your sword and your trusty over-sized fists, you must defeat them all and advance through the levels, trying to survive the obstacles ahead.
Pick-up various power-ups to give you a boost
Depending on the mission you are currently undertaking, there are many power-ups that can be picked up throughout the stage, all of which give you certain advantages when you need them. Hence, whether you need a health potion to help you go on, or an invincibility token to make it easier to advance for a few seconds, they are all scattered around the environment, some of which are even hidden in hard-to-reach places.
The cartoonish graphic style chosen to render the game could not have been more inspired, especially since the gameplay is riddled with humor and amusing situations that are much easier to depict with this type of graphics. In addition, the sound department holds its end as well, with convincing voice acting and carefully chosen special effects.
Everyone's favorite demigod defies the odds yet again
In the end, Hercules is one of the most fun and addictive video games you can get your hands on, thanks to the healthy dose of humor and the increasing difficulty that makes you replay levels for hours at end. In addition, the gameplay varies from one stage to the other, making it hard for you to use the same strategy over and over again.
