Hacker Evolution: Untold Demo

Thanks to the constant technological advancements, computers are becoming more and more intelligent every day, featuring human-like logical capabilities and almost just as much processing power. Naturally, there's also the concern that they will one day surpass humans in every aspect, making us rather obsolete.

Hacker Evolution: Untold tells the exact same tale, only it takes place somewhere in the future, where the computers have already taken over the world and the human race is threatened by extinction. After the singularity, the AI sees no purpose in keeping people around and puts the required plans in motion, in order to clean the planet and keep it all for itself.

The ones who created the technology used by these computers are now faced with a rather difficult choice, especially since most of the fault falls on them. Thus, you play the role of Brian Spencer, one of the developers responsible for the self-aware computers, who tries his best to bring his own creation down, using his hacking skills to do so.

Just like in the previous episodes, the entire game is presented in a text-based format, which means that all you get to see is a command-line prompt and many lines of code. By deciphering the algorithms and using various improvised hacking techniques, Brian must work very hard to dismantle what he built, as well as try to avoid being traced and killed in the process. Moreover, he is also framed for a murder he didn't commit, which makes matters even worse.

Since there are no graphics to speak off, the game must use different techniques to keep you interested and engaged, otherwise things can get boring pretty soon. This is achieved through interesting puzzles and time-based missions, which require you to be fast and precise in your actions, in order to avoid being detected and caught. Although even this can get pretty boring at times, the challenges should keep you coming back for more.

While Hackers Evolution: Untold doesn't use actual hacking techniques, they are related to real-world procedures, which makes matters a bit more interesting. Other than that, most of the commands and quests are pretty basic, in order to keep things short and exciting.
