Grim Tales: Threads of Destiny Collector's Edition is a casual puzzle game in which you play the role of an investigator, who also happens to possess the ability to travel back in time. By doing so, you can alter the past and save people from bad guys, although you still have to do a lot of detective work to figure out who is the killer. In essence, the gameplay is all about finding objects, solving puzzles and figuring out how to keep advancing the story.

Speaking of which, the plot revolves around a serial killer and the detective who’s trying to catch him. A girl by the name of Jackie loses her parents to him, but no one is able to find out what happened exactly, until you come along. By coming in contact with an object that belonged to the victims, you are able to travel back in time and see the story exactly how it went. You also have to beware of a dark force that tries to stop you from changing fate.

Most of your time is spent analyzing the environments and picking up anything that might come in handy later on. Some objects require additional work, since they are either locked or stuck, which means that you are constantly looking for something in order to advance. Some items can even be combined to obtain what you need, while others are actually keys to gain access to other areas.

Just like in all the other episodes in the series, the visual quality is top notch. The level designers have put a lot of work and dedication into the hand-drawn environments, which is why the atmosphere lives up to the expectations as well. The voice acting is on point too, as is the creepy soundtrack that keeps you engaged whenever you are too busy looking for clues.

In the end, Grim Tales: Threads of Destiny Collector's Edition has what it takes to occupy a few hours of your life, especially if you are into puzzle games. The actual puzzles are not very complicated, but some might require a bit of tinkering before you are able to figure them out.
