Grim Dragons Demo
Help Cyril the dragon get his revenge on the people who disturbed his slumber in this action-adventure game. #Action adventure #Adventure game #Dragon game #Dragon #Adventure #Action
Dragons are usually included as the bad guys in stories and legends, given the fact that they are giant, flying lizards that spit fire and devour humans. However, the lore tells us about their intelligence as well, seeing how they live thousands of years and gather knowledge as they attack villages, deal with different civilizations and acquire all sorts of tomes.
Grim Dragons is a third-person adventure game with a lot of action and a dragon as the main character. Unlike most games, you do not have a human riding a dragon, so you can see the whole story from the perspective of the flying lizard. Granted, this is a fairly basic game with simple gameplay mechanics and even simpler graphics, but you can have a bit of fun with it in the right conditions.
It all starts when Cyril the red dragon is awoken by a loud noise after years of slumber. Naturally, he is annoyed by the racket and goes to investigate, only to find that a human village has appeared nearby. He decides to punish the people by burning down their houses and eating them in the process, and it’s your task to help Cyril do this without being slain.
The gameplay can be a bit too disappointing sometimes, given the fact that it feels very rough and basic at the same time. Your only options are to fly and spit fire, as well as hit enemies with your claws. It’s actually very difficult to fly due to the annoying controls, and the whole experience feels more like an unpolished platformer than a 3D adventure game with an open world.
Speaking of which, the level design is very disappointing as well, given the fact that all you can see around you are mountains, trees, and the occasional house. The colors are nice, but the world is just too barren to make you feel like you are exploring. Lastly, the animations are very simple as well, given the fact that there are only two separate frames for Cyril’s flight animation.
Grim Dragons may be an early access title at the moment, but even that’s an overstatement, given its flaws and simplicity. Thus, it’s not currently worth a try unless you are ready to deal with very rough mechanics and empty levels.
