Gridrunner Revolution is a pretty unique video game developed by a studio that has been around for a few decades now, so they should know all about what it takes to make a proper retro game. Hence, this is an arcade space shooter featuring bright colors, lots of lasers, and all the action you could possibly want. It’s all presented using a mix of old and current graphic technologies.

There is another defining characteristic at play in Gridrunner Revolution, because it’s not really all about shooting the enemies as fast and as accurate as you can. In essence, you also have the possibility to create ‘aesthetically pleasing’ patterns and graphic performances while your ship spins through space. Obviously, you are rewarded with points for the shapes you manage to create while spreading death and destruction.

Because the game was designed to be friendly with casual players and beginners as well, the controls and the gameplay itself are not at all complicated. In fact, you can understand what it’s all about and how to properly maneuver your ship from the first few minutes, so the rest of the game is all about trying to obtain the craziest visual patterns you are able. Thankfully, there are multiple difficulty levels and over one hundred different levels to go through.

As previously mentioned, the visual quality is a defining characteristic because it influences the gameplay as well. The screen is usually assaulted by a wide palette of colors, which should inspire you to create quite the beautiful and complex visual structures. An electrifying soundtrack plays in the background while all this is going on, which should keep the atmosphere at a steady pace throughout the game.

All things considered, Gridrunner Revolution is both accessible and beautiful at the same time, so it’s pretty difficult to imagine a good reason why you shouldn’t give it a try. On the other hand, the gameplay can become a bit repetitive after a while, especially if you are immune to the bright colors flashing on the screen.
