Gore: Ultimate Soldier Demo
Shoot aliens and various other unsavory creatures in this futuristic first-person shooter. #Ultimate Soldier #First-person shooter #Futuristic shooter #Gore #Soldier #FPS
Classic shooters are all about quick reflexes, big weapons and a lot of enemies for you to kill in an orderly fashion. Not a lot of emphasis is put on the characters or the story, although there are have been some exceptions from the rule over the years, with Half-Life being among the most notable ones. In essence, the shooting is all that matters, along with smooth gameplay mechanics and intriguing levels to keep you entertained.
Gore: Ultimate Soldier is pretty big and mean, but it lacks the wits to hold all the characteristics required for a legendary first-person shooter. Hence, it may have some cool weapons and plenty of monsters to populate your nightmares for weeks to come, but everything else about the game will fade from memory in a matter of days, since neither the story nor the characters make an impression on you.
The settings themselves might do, on the other hand, since they are pretty unique and quite different from each other. Thus, whether you battle vicious aliens on their homeworld planet, or you are spreading bullets on what seems to be a semi-medieval Earth, the atmosphere is always intense and fun. Moreover, you get to choose between multiple classes at the start of the game, which means that the gameplay fluctuates depending on how you choose to play.
It can be rather difficult to make such outlandish sights look believable, but with a bit imagination and more enemies to decorate them, you can achieve the desired results much quicker. The level designers did a good job with Gore: Ultimate Soldier, though, because the environments are very good-looking and so are the monsters that attack you, not to mention the occasional architecture and the weapons themselves.
A fast-paced shooter such as this wouldn’t amount to much if it wasn’t possible to enjoy it in multiplayer though, since that’s why great old games are still played today. Thankfully, the multiplayer component is quite solid in this case and it includes a variety of modes as well, such as Team Deathmach, Capture the Flag, and Duel, which is basically a match between only two players.
All things considered, Gore: Ultimate Soldier may not revolutionize anything in the genre, but it does stay true to its roots and it can provide you with a few hours of mindless fun. Moreover, the multiplayer component is refined enough to worth a bit of time as well, which is all you can ask for from a game of this caliber.
