German Street Racing Demo

The Germans are well known for their engineering mastery and the high-quality cars they build, especially since there are more than a few manufacturers spread throughout the country. Thus, it is no surprise that their vehicles are also used in street races, thanks to their high performance and good looks.

German Street Racing gives you the opportunity to put these cars to the test and race through some of the most recognizable cities in the country, including Hamburg, Leipzig and Berlin. Obviously, the nature of these races is not at all legal, since they take place during high traffic hours and disregard every speed law in existence.

The story involves five street race champions who come up with their own event, called simply “Deutschlands Streetracing Competition” and it takes place across five different cities. The winner of all five races gets to becomes Germany's best street racer and gains the respect of all the other competitors, at least until the next year, when the races are held again.

As it is customary for any street racer, the cars used in the competition are heavily modified, especially when it comes to the cosmetics. Hence, from modified bumpers and extra-sized rims, to the classic neon lights, everything is as flashy as possible. Naturally, every car also comes with a built-in nitro tank, which allows it to obtain short bursts of speed and get you out of sticky situations every now and then.

The game also put a significant amount of effort into the visual presentation, although the geometry could have used a bit more work. On the other hand, the reflections are quite good looking and the special effects make the races more intense, with motion blur, sparks and various other gimmicks to inspire a sense of speed and adrenaline into you whenever you hit the gas pedal.

German Street Racing may not be the best title in it's genre, but it does offer a pretty satisfying experience and more than enough fun. The car upgrades and the different racing modes bring a bit of diversity to the gameplay, since you always have to tweak and improve your vehicle if you want to remain into the race.
