G-Force was a successful Disney movie that featured a very unlikely scenario, in which a guinea pig was the leader of a covert intelligence agency in charge of conducting a top-secret government mission. As if that weren't enough, he also has a fly as a sidekick, which helps him break into any kind of facility in a matter of seconds.
Darwin and Mooch take matters into their own hands
In the game with the same name, you get to control both Darwin and his flying companion, in order to complete the government-related mission and save the mankind from destruction. As in the movie, the enemy are the usual electronics and household appliances found in every home, including toasters, garbage bins and even waffle irons, all of which desire nothing more than to eliminate each human they come in contact with.
The gameplay is based on Darwin's ability to infiltrate buildings and get past various security measures, using his small size and a collection of high-tech gadgets to do so. His companion, Mooch, comes into play whenever the available entry points are too small even for a guinea pig and he uses the attached laser to activate doors and perform various other simple tasks.
Use teamwork to defeat the evil kitchenware
As previously mentioned, you must employ teamwork in order to complete the missions, since there are some portions which cannot be cleared without switching to Mooch. To achieve this, all you have to do is press the appropriate key on your keyboard and the camera instantly jumps to the fly's perspective, allowing you to reach basically any spot in the room, as well as slip between bars and various other tight spaces.
The combat aspect is handled by Darwin, because he is the one holding the weapons. Thus, beside his electrical whip that can be used for area of effect damage, there is also his plasma rifle, which offers more precision and the option to strike the foes from a distance. You do, however, need to scour the levels for ammunition, since the gun quickly runs out of ammo and you are left unable to defend against more powerful enemies.
Enjoy the original cast voicing their characters
As it is customary for this type of games, the original actors lent their voices for the spin-off as well, which means that you can hear Sam Rockwell, Jon Favreau and Bill Nighy inspire life to the characters in the game. In the end, G-Force is quite the amusing and entertaining experience, thanks to the nice graphics and puzzle-oriented gameplay style.
