Futuristic warfare has become quite the hot subject in the last few years, mostly because everything about World War II and the Vietnam War has been done hundreds of times already. Hence, the developers are now hoping for the future to hold better wars and they imagine them using anything from nanosuits, to laser weapons and many other deadly gimmicks.

Frontlines: Fuel of War is a first-person shooter that revolves around the struggle between the world's largest superpowers, which have allied with each other in an attempt to conquer the other half of the planet. Thus, the Western Coalition is trying to defeat the Red Star Alliance and vice-versa, using any means at their disposal to do so, including highly trained soldiers and robotized help.

As you might have guessed, the multiplayer gives you the opportunity to join one of the two factions and unleash destruction upon the opposing army. Just like in every other FPS of this caliber, there are many weapons to choose from before you spawn, as well as a variety of vehicles that are available on the battlefield to increase your movement speed, or give you the advantage in confrontations.

Although the game runs at a very quick pace and it feels like a lot is happening around you, there aren't that many options to choose from, in truth. Thus, other than the different types of drones you can employ in order to coordinate some sneak attacks, the game feels just like any other shooter, with the exception that the maps are quite varied and detailed, which always makes for an immersive atmosphere.

From a technical point of view, everything is as it should for a next gen title, including the graphics engine and the sound quality. The visual aspect is actually impressive, although it also comes with unforgiving system requirements and might cause the game to slow down, especially since the multiplayer servers can hold up to 64 players at once.

In the end, even if Frontlines: Fuel of War is actually a pretty good game, it does not make too much of an effort to set itself apart from the rest of the similar games out there, with the exception of the drones. Other than that, it just feels like everything has been already played before and nothing too exciting can take place.
