Freak Out: Extreme Freeride is a game that allows you to do that as well, only without the risk of breaking something and certainly without having to climb an entire mountain beforehand. Thanks to the variety of competitions available and the great simulation engine, you can get about as close to the real thing as possible without having to deal with the cold and the snow.

However, the “Extreme” in the title means that there are many other things you can do, other than just go downhill really fast against other skiers. Thus, it is possible to also perform a variety of jumps and stunts, in order to impress the crowd and gather as many points as you can. There are a few different skiers available to choose from and each one of them comes with a different selection of tricks under his sleeves.

To keep you interested, the game does not provide you with everything from the get go. Hence, you need to participate in a few races and win them if you want to receive access to better equipment and more tracks to enjoy, which is easier said than done. However, the challenge is part of the fun and the races certainly have what it takes to increase your adrenaline levels and keep you focused on getting better and better.

Visually, the game does look pretty nice and the environments are detailed enough to fool the eye most of the time. The characters themselves could have used better animations when it comes to their movement, but the speed and the tricks should redirect your attention to what's really important. Moreover, it is also possible to participate in multiplayer matches and race against people from all around the world over the Internet.

All things considered, Freak Out: Extreme Freeride can definitely be a good choice if you are a fan of the sport, but it is also entertaining enough to interest even those who are just getting to familiarize themselves with the activity in question. Hence, the game is worthy of a try, if only to see if it can match the feeling you get on the slope.
