Football Tactics
A football management game with gameplay that uses a turn-based combat approach. #Soccer TBS #Football TBS #Tactical football #Football #Soccer #TBS
I destroyed a few pairs of shoes playing football as a kid but then I got into computers and that problem slowly faded away. Now Football Tactics is alive; it’s a football manager simulation game with turn-based tactics gameplay, and I really like TBS/TBT games.
Right off the bat, I don’t think anyone can take Football Tactics serious as a football simulator of any sorts. However, expect a considerable amount of gameplay depth for this odd creation.
The TBT side of the gameplay is easy to pick up and understand as it relies on the core principles that are derived from turn-based strategy games. You have eleven players on your team, and you can perform three actions per turn with just one player or three different ones. You can pass, shoot, reposition players, issue pressing moves and so on.
In Football Tactics, the rules of soccer apply, and that does offer a bit realism when playing. Most of that real game resemblance will come from missed passes and faulty dribbling. Well, what do you expect, even in Heroes of Might and Magic dragons sometimes miss their attacks.
Football Tactics comes with a good bunch of features that make it enjoyable. As expected, you can purchase new players, participate in championships and, of course, customize the look and composition of your team.
What’s a bit unexpected is the fact that you can choose to train your players when it comes to certain attributes. Each one gains experience after a match, and you can have them focus general skills like accuracy, passing, defense and control; just like you’d have your PRG character improve in certain traits. Moreover, when they reach a certain level, players are granted active skills to use in ‘combat’ and there are even team upgrades to purchase.
On a closing note, Football Tactics is an interesting merger between two unrelated genres. And, in all honesty, it’s fun to play. Hopefully, the fact that it’s a port from the mobile world won’t hinder enjoyment and at some point PvP needs to be a thing.
