Floorball League Demo

While it may not be a very well known sport around the world, floorball's got its supporters and plenty of competitions around the globe, including world championships and a version of the champions league. Naturally, it is far more popular in countries like Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic, because the sport originates there and the public's interest is far greater than anywhere else.

Floorball League is a simulator that allows you to experience the sport as close to reality as possible, using some of the official teams and players from all over the world in order to compete in prestigious leagues and championships. The game also features some of the official sponsors of the competitions, although the emphasis is put on the actual sport, rather than what goes behind it.

There are multiple game modes to choose from, depending on how much you intend on playing during each specific session. Thus, it is possible to play in lengthy leagues and tournaments, or choose to take part in a singular exhibition match between the desired teams. It is also possible to enhance your skills by participating in training sessions or shootouts, which allow you to practice tactics and strikes for as long as you want.

Unfortunately, not a lot of work went into assuring the fact that the gameplay is smooth and functional, since it is quite difficult to make sense of what's happening on the screen, not to mention the fact that the controls are very annoying. Moreover, the simulation engine often fails to portray a convincing behavior for the players on the court, which can be clearly seen whenever they are not in possession of the ball.

Lastly, while the graphics engine is quite potent and capable of portraying nice 3D models and some neat special effects, there are many artifacts and bugs that plague the visual quality. Body parts shaking uncontrollably, equipment glitches and various other inconveniences often ruin the entire atmosphere, especially when it's coupled with the disastrous AI.

In the end, Floorball League could have been a lot better, although the demo is not entirely accurate to depict the final product. However, the bugs make it very hard to believe in change, especially since most of the problems are too big not to be observable during the development stage.
