Farscape The Game Demo

Farscape was a TV show featuring a science-fiction setting, namely outer space, aliens, and the usual futuristic technology that allows humans to deal with the new environments. Hence, spaceships are the prime method of transportation and laser weapons cannot miss from anyone’s arsenal. Naturally, a video game was created as well, to let the fans experience the same universe from a more personal point of view.

Farscape The Game is an action-adventure game in which you get to control the characters from the show and help them overcome a series of challenges, while unraveling a bigger mystery along the way. As such, Crichton and Chiana are under your control and you must use their skills to survive the perils of space, in order to reunite with the rest of the crew in the end.

The plot starts with the characters being attacked while onboard their ship Moya, only to crash on an alien planet soon after. Although Chiana and Chrichton manage to escape the ship, the rest of the crew is stranded on the planet mentioned above, which means that the two must make their way there and rescue their comrades. Naturally, a variety of monsters and bad aliens need to be eliminated beforehand.

Unfortunately, the game is not exactly a jewel of the genre, since no significant efforts were made to provide the players with a suitable experience. Hence, you’ll run into anything from camera problems, to bugs and extremely boring gameplay sequences. In fact, the entire gameplay is a tad too boring for regular gamers, so it may be only worth the bother if you are a huge fan of the show.

Most of the missions require you to travel to a particular location, shoot everything that moves until you get there, then kill the creatures that wait for you at the spot in question. Some quests differ, but the underlying idea is the same in almost all of them. Unfortunately, the cheap graphics engine and the terrible camera angles even make the journey boring, so you don’t even get to admire the scenery.

When it’s all said and done, Farscape The Game is not exactly terrible, but it’s certainly not something you would want to play unless you are a fan of the TV series. Hence, the game has too many problems to be enjoyed by anyone else, although not even the fans might not be too happy with it.
