Disobey - Revolt Simulator Demo

The world has seen more than its share of riots and revolutions over the centuries, and many of them took place in modern times as well. Granted, it’s much easier to start some kind of protest nowadays, especially thanks to social media and the power of the Internet. On the other hand, it’s quite easy to talk about a revolution on Facebook, but it’s a whole other thing to get out on the street and do something about it.

Disobey - Revolt Simulator is a top-down action game with a few real-time strategy elements in which you play the role of a riot leader trying to gather some people and go on a violent spree. Naturally, it’s not meant to be taken serious, but you can have quite some fun with the game if you enjoy a bit of mindless violence that ends with virtual victims only.

In essence, you start by controlling a single character that has the necessary charisma to incite other people to violence. As such, you have a couple of commands you can use to influence the friendly NPCs, including Follow, Stop and Attack. They are not 100% accurate, since the AI acts on its own a little bit as well, but at least they listen to your commands as soon as you issue them.

The interface is a bit annoying, on the other hand, because you have to use on-screen controls in order to rally the other character, which means that you have to click on the appropriate buttons. On top of that, the mouse also controls the orientation of your character, so it’s pretty annoying to watch your character turn around every time you try to issue a new command.

Speaking of which, you can also salvage loot from the buildings you manage to trash, including better weapons and even Molotov cocktails that can be used to deal even more damage to the city. The riot police makes an appearance as well, and it’s your duty to carefully manage your people to come out victorious out of every confrontation.

All things considered, Disobey - Revolt Simulator is still pretty early in the development phase, so most things don’t function as they should. However, the game is bound to get better in the future, especially if you help the developer by participating in the Kickstarter campaign.
