Defenders of Time is a tower defense game that has been created to really challenge veterans of the genre and to really annoy some ambitious amateurs. At its core it’s a classic TD game that looks good and comes with a series of features that you might really appreciate.

Right off the bat, if you want to play it, go through the tutorial, twice. It’s not for the tower building and upgrading part, that has actually been optimally simplified, that’s not what will get to you, it’s the (very) fast-pace nature of it all.

You get over two minutes of preparation time in which you can view the entire map from any angle, analyze monster travel paths and plan your tower building strategies. Visually, Defenders of Time rocks some pretty good graphics and it’s nice to see the effects and details in the towers and everything else but once those waves start appearing, you won’t have time to look at anything else except what to upgrade and where you can build more.

One of Defenders of Time’s strong points (or weaknesses, this is very debatable) is the fact that things move way too fast. On the good side, it keeps you totally connected with no time to get bored, it really pushes you to do your best. The fast pace nature can be considered a downside because some monster waves seem overpowered and you might not have the proper reaction time to counter-build for them.

With the above to consider, let’s be real, all good TD games are like that until you totally familiarize yourself with the towers, where they shine, when they don’t and so on.

Aesthetically, the towers in Defenders of Time are pretty cool and they look even better when upgraded. In terms of attack type, you’ve certainly seen the likes of them before.

Another great thing about Defenders of Time is that you can play it along with other friends in teams of 4 and challenge another group of players. This mode allows you to play as a commander who has the main role of overseeing the general strategy and tower builds.

On a closing note, Defenders of Time is a tower defense game that will really test your mazing and tower-combo strategies. It’s fast, good looking and definitely challenging, it’s not for the TD faint-hearted.
