Death Tractor Demo

Run for your life through a corn field, harvest as much as you can and deliver it to the truck for transportation before the mutant tractor runs you down and cuts you up. Yeah, that’s exactly what this game is about.

Death Tractor started off as an April fools thing but in all honesty, the guys over at Exato Game Studios might be onto something. At the moment it’s more of a prototype, and a very solid one, that showcases what the core gameplay would be like.

It’s a first-person survival harvest simulator in which up to four people can enter the corn field and try to gather as much corn as they can before time runs out. Of course, all of that while avoiding the killer tractor who is set to get rid of the human presence which is infesting its lands with GMOs. That’s actually a decent plot which kind of makes sense, it’s utterly ridiculous but it makes sense.

Also, apart from cutting down corn, in Death Tractor your sickle can be used to cut down competitors as well. After all, if you have a game that kind of makes a statement on GMOs, you might as well add the idea of capitalistic greed and how it makes people capable of just about anything to earn a dishonest dollar.

At the moment, Death Tractor is in a state of stasis because the developers are waiting for a bit of feedback for this concept. Based on that, they will either complete the game or it will forever remain just an interesting idea.

Let’s take into consideration the stuff that’s good: the death tractor, glorious corn, a creepy midnight setting, the tractor starts off as a baby machine and feeds on the GMO corn until it mutates into the killer, you have a sickle. The more corn you have, the slower you move, you can kill other players with your sickle, others can kill you, and there’s corn again.

At the moment the only thing that kind of bothers is the perfectly repetitive individual corn plants that tend to upset the eyes a bit. There are a few other things but at the moment, the good outweighs the bad.

Death Tractor is awaiting support on its Steam Greenlight campaign and if it gets enough votes, it will be pushed into production as a full-featured game. If it reaches that point, apart from considerable visual and gameplay upgrades , it will provide multiple levels, bigger maps, some gore and other crop related things such as UFO visits and so on.
