Crystal Towers 2 XL, a platformer with a lot going on for it. It’s a nice fusion between old’school platforming with today’s humor and tech. The game throws a lot of content at you, tons of levels and fast-paced action that are bound to keep you playing for hours on end.

Crystal Towers 2 XL brings back a serious vibes from a good couple of years back when platformers were something else. It blends classic level design with precision platformer gameplay, sturdy mechanics, and an overall retro feel.

At one point, it feels like you’re playing Sonic but with mages and music. It all should look very nice if you’re into games that pay homage to the games great platformers of way back. The controls scheme is simple and super responsive, and it gives way to very enjoyable gameplay.

I can’t remember the last time I played a platformer that handles so well and feels just right with a controller. It’s easy to play but very tough to master if you’re a perfectionist, which I think is a great tradeoff.

Moreover, if you’re into speedrunning through a game, Crystal Towers 2 XL is a good candidate for that as well. Since it has so many pieces that resemble Sonic, you’ll probably start running through each level by instinct.

If you’re looking for a platformer built today that feels and plays like it’s 1990, then Crystal Towers 2 XL should be among your first choices. Simply put, it’s simple but very good if you’re into platformers that rely on skill and a bit of luck. It’s fun all around.
