Chicken Assassin - Master of Humiliation Demo

The 80s was the period when action movies reached their peak, at least when it comes to how ridiculous they can get in regards to the main character’s attitude and the plot itself. It’s enough to think about Die Hard, Terminator and whatever Chuck Norris was doing back then to realize that it all boiled down to snappy one-liners, big explosions and as many bullets as possible.

Chicken Assassin - Master of Humiliation follows the same recipe, except that it features a chicken as the main character. Not just any chicken, on the other hand, since this one looks and acts like it bathes in steroids and fought in every war out there. In short, the game is all about beating bad guys and collecting powerful items that help Mean McAllister - your character - become even stronger.

There’s not much of a story in the demo, and it feels like the full game won’t make tremendous efforts in this regard either, but that’s just fine. The whole point is to have fun, and given the fast pace of the action and the challenging gameplay mechanics, that should be fairly easy to achieve. The incessant clicking might get repetitive after a while, but the thought of acquiring better gear keeps you playing for longer than you would expect.

Although the whole point of the game is to be quick, the mechanics slow you down for no reason sometimes, such as when you have to turn in order to attack the enemies coming from behind. The animation takes forever to finish, and you always receive a few blows in the meantime. It’s frustrating, and it would appear that there’s no way to avoid this at all.

As far as the graphics are concerned, the game is in 2D, but the environments are very detailed, as are the characters and the items you equip. Speaking of which, the chicken can also level up and win gear after every encounter, which means that you can switch from using your fists to all sorts of swords, knives and even guns. Obviously, the goal is to make as much damage per hit as possible.

In the end, Chicken Assassin - Master of Humiliation is certainly on its way to success, but there are a few adjustments that need to be made in future releases. Hence, the character hitboxes are a bit too big, which breaks immersion. It would also be nice for the chicken to react quicker to your input, since there are some input lags that hinder your ability to deal with enemies that are behind you.
