Cast of the Seven Godsends

Cast of the Seven Godsends is an action-adventure game that takes place in a fantasy world where skeletons, demons, ents and evil wizards live together in total chaos. The game is an indie creation that has a strange and appealing look at the same time.

Right off the bat, you’ll notice that Cast of the Seven Godsends seems like it wasn’t designed by an artist who has reached creative maturity. Now don’t get me wrong, the game looks very good for a title that aims to set the action in a fantasy setting. The above mentioned is worth noting so you won’t be caught off guard by some ‘flawed’ pieces of design, and animation.

The gameplay mechanics are also of modest implementation because from the demo, apart from jumping and shooting/swinging at the enemy, there’s not a lot more to do. However, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Since the game is built to have a run’n’gun style the above is totally acceptable.

For the classic 2D platformer, the action is pretty catchy. If you like shooting stuff and killing enemies quickly, Cast of the Seven Godsends will keep you glued to your seat. That is if you’re a fan of the genre.

At times, the controls seem a bit clunky and a boss fight can be really annoying since you don’t have any kind of dash mechanic. Still, you can destroy orbs that randomly from and inside them, you can find various power-ups for weapons, pieces of armor and speed boosts. Moreover, some powerups grant you the ability to morph your character into an entirely different warrior, and there are seven of those in the entire game.

To wrap it up, Cast of the Seven Godsends is a nice game if you’re into handcrafted creations. It doesn’t ask much of the player in terms of skill and it has plenty of creative touches to keep you interested.
